Question about slimming legs? (ten points!)?

See, I've been doing squats, lunges, and running. I really want thin thighs (the ones that don't touch) and thin calves. But instead of getting those results, my calves built more muscle, making it more bulky and big. Why is that? Is there any exercises that won't bulk up my calves but instead slim both my thighs and calves. Yes, I know spot reduction is IMPOSSIBLE. I am dieting and exercising. I'm just a little strict on my legs.
