Wedding Etiquette- invites question? (need opinions on this, please)?

Even though etiquette experts think it is acceptable to invite someone to the reception, but not the ceremony, I personally find it rude. Either invite someone to both the reception and ceremony, or not at all. As for the invite to only part of the reception, that is really tacky. I would not go to this wedding.
